Fishermen feared drowned, found dead afloat

MANJUNG: A man who was feared to have drowned after falling at Jeti Kayan, Sitiawan, near here this morning, was found dead by fishermen.

According to Deputy Director of Operations for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the victim, known as Muhammad Afandy Mamosati, 32, was a fisherman found afloat around noon.

He said they received a call regarding the incident at 7.58 a.m. from the police.

“The fire brigade team from the Sitiawan Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene and conducted a search operation in the area where the victim was believed to have fallen.

“The victim was found afloat by fishermen at the location at 1.45 p.m.,” he said here today.

He added that the victim was confirmed dead and handed over to the police for further action.
