TANJUNG MALIM – In response to the increasing use of electric vehicles (EV), more fast-charging modular EV stations will be set up along the North-South Expressway.

This year, the Ministry of Works approved construction at four locations, including in the state of Perak. Among these locations are the Behrang Rest Stop in Perak (northbound and southbound) and the Senawang Rest Stop in Negeri Sembilan.

The Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, mentioned that currently, only one station is operational, the northbound Behrang Rest Stop.

He explained that these facilities will allow EV users to charge their vehicles at strategic locations along the highway.

“Each EV station will have a DC 300kW charging capacity, providing four charging points. I believe that with the collaboration of all parties, the launch of these mobile modular EV fast-charging stations will contribute to the development of the infrastructure and ecosystem,” he stated.

He made these remarks during the launch of the EV charging station at the northbound Behrang Rest Stop.

The Chairman of PLUS, Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab. Latif was also present at the event.

The development of these stations is a collaboration between PLUS, the highway operator, and technology companies Gentari Green Mobility Sdn. Bhd. (Gentari) and EV Connection Sdn. Bhd. (EVC).

What makes these EV stations unique is their portability, the ability to use solar energy, and the support of battery storage systems.
