Kemas Child Care Center in Pekan Gopeng Destroyed in a Fire

Gopeng: A child care centre (taska) building belonging to the Department of Community Development (Kemas) in Pekan Gopeng was engulfed in flames earlier this morning.

The Deputy Director of the Operations Division of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad stated that the fire incident occurred around 7:38 am.

He mentioned that personnel from the Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the location with assistance from the Simpang Pulai and Kampar Fire and Rescue Stations.

“The fire involved a Kemas child care centre, Class A type, measuring 20×70 square feet, with 60 per cent of the structure destroyed by the fire.

“Fortunately, the incident did not involve any casualties, and there were no children in the area,” he said on Wednesday.

He added that firefighters extinguished the fire using two hose reel streams, including water jets from the fire engine’s tank, and a foam unit.

Furthermore, the cause of the fire is still unknown and is currently under investigation.

The operation, led by Officer in Charge, Mohamad Nasir Mohamad Arshad, concluded at 9:29 am.
