Community effort to eradicate dengue in Taman Song Choon involves all parties

IPOH:About 70 people, including representatives from the Ipoh City Council (MBI) and residents, participated in a Dengue Eradication Self-Help Program in Taman Song Choon today.

The program was organized by MBI Council Member, Residents’ Association (JPP) Zone 24, State Assemblyman’s Office (ADUN) for Simpang Pulai in collaboration with MBI at Padang Lebuh Rapat Baru 3.

ADUN Simpang Pulai, Wong Chai Yi, Council Member Zuraidah Zakaria, MBI Environmental Health Director M. Raman Maran were also present.

MBI highlighted activities such as local residents cleaning both inside and outside their homes, collecting tin and plastic waste that could harbor water, and clearing garden waste.

“The residents cleaned the area around residential homes, addressing household and garden waste, locating and eliminating breeding grounds, disposing of potential water-holding containers in abandoned homes and vacant land.

“Identifying vacant lots, illegal gardens, and abandoned houses that have not been cleaned for subsequent cleaning actions after the notice period, conducting risk assessments, and identifying drains for cleaning by contractors.

“The program involved 20 members from MBI’s Vector Unit and 1 open truck, 4 members from MBI’s Siaraya Unit, 2 members from the General Health Unit, 4 enforcement officers, 4 Urban Services members, 8 Puncak Emas members, and 20 residents of the housing estate,” said the spokesperson on Saturday.
