IPOH: Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic has been acknowledged by receiving the Special Media Award for the highest publication of news regarding Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) last year.
Throughout the period, a total of 37 news articles about PUO’s achievements and various programs have been published by Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
This news coverage is also among Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic’s initiatives in supporting the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at polytechnics.
The award presentation and certificate were officiated by PUO Director, Dr. Shamsuri Abdullah, to the Editor-in-Chief of Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic, Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali.
Last year, PUO was upgraded to the country’s first Apex Polytechnic (APEX) program.
This is a significant transformation and benchmark to become a leading technological institution in meeting the needs of TVET education.
Previously, Shamsuri attended the Meet & Greet Media Program in Perak with PUO held at the campus.
The event was attended by representatives from 23 media agencies, including news portals in Perak.
In his speech, Shamsuri expressed gratitude for the media’s support in disseminating various news and activities about PUO.
“Last year, PUO received a total of 199 news coverage from various media outlets with a news value amounting to RM987,180.
“Throughout this year, we have enjoyed 73 news coverages with a news value totalling RM398,024.
“As a result of this media cooperation, PUO has successfully built a positive image and brand among the community,” he said.
