KAMPAR: The Kampar District Council (MDKpr) has refuted claims that they have captured and stolen livestock belonging to farmers from their pens.

According to its Chairman, Ahmad Suqairy Alias, the captures were conducted in the area of Tunku Abdul Rahman College, Bandar Baru Kampar.

“The Enforcement Division of the Kampar District Council conducted a wandering animal operation on April 23 at 12 midnight in the area of Tunku Abdul Rahman College, Bandar Baru Kampar.

“This operation follows several complaints from the management of Tunku Abdul Rahman College regarding wandering animals, namely cattle and buffalo, entering the college area.

“A total of two buffalo were successfully captured by the Enforcement Division of the Kampar District Council,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He emphasized that MDKpr will fully cooperate with the police investigation.

“The accusations against the council claiming that the captures were conducted inside the owner’s pens and were stolen are completely untrue,” he said.

He added that they will take enforcement actions to ensure the safety of road users and the well-being of Kampar residents in general.

On Monday, media reported that a group of cattle and buffalo farmers questioned the procedures of capture operations by the local authority (PBT) after claiming that their livestock in pens and private areas were also seized.
