GOPENG: Safety is paramount when conducting outdoor activities, particularly those involving water-based recreation.

In line with this priority, Gopeng Glamping Park has earned recognition from SIRIM, the Malaysian Industrial Standards and Research Institute.

The leading adventure tourism operator in Malaysia has been awarded the SIRIM ISO 21101:2014 certification for its adventure tourism safety management system covering both water-based and land-based activities.

According to Gopeng Glamping Park’s Marketing Manager, Hazim Azalan, the certification was granted after the park successfully met the stringent standards set by SIRIM.

“This recognition underscores Gopeng Glamping Park’s commitment to implementing strict safety protocols and ensuring the well-being of our visitors,” he said.

Since its establishment in 2018, Gopeng Glamping Park has emerged as a popular camping retreat offering various challenging recreational activities.

“These include whitewater kayaking, waterfall climbing, exploration of Gua Tempurung, ATV off-road adventures, paintball, and jungle trekking,” Hazim added.

The certification marks a significant achievement, making Gopeng Glamping Park the first adventure tourism operator in Malaysia to receive this accreditation.

ISO 21101 provides guidelines for adventure tourism operators to implement and maintain safety management systems for land and water-based activities. The standard aims to enhance safety and promote best practices within the adventure tourism sector.

“Gopeng Glamping Park employs 58 staff members, including skilled guides who manage recreational and kayaking activities.

“At the same time, this certification strengthens Perak’s position as a hub for adventure tourism, particularly in Gopeng,” Hazim said.
