TAIPING: A total of 39 victims from 14 families were placed in a temporary evacuation center (PPS) early this morning following flooding in Kampung Simpang Halt here.
According to a spokesperson for the Taiping District Civil Defense Force (APM) Operations Control Center, heavy rain lasting more than an hour from the afternoon to the evening yesterday caused the area to flood.
The spokesperson stated that the PPS at Dewan Orang Ramai Simpang Halt was opened at 7 a.m. on Saturday to accommodate all affected victims.
He added that the relocation of victims to the PPS was assisted by APM Taiping, and most of them moved to the safe location on their own.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecasted rain in the afternoon and evening across all districts in the state.
