IPOH: The position of the Perak State Police Chief will be filled by the Deputy Chief of Police for Pahang, Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, who has been promoted to the rank of Police Commissioner (CP).
The appointment was announced by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) today, which also involved the transfer of 35 senior officers, effective from March 10.
He replaces the previous officeholder, Datuk Azizi Mat Aris, who retired in November.
Noor Hisam has extensive experience, with over 30 years of service in PDRM.
Before becoming the Deputy Chief of Police for Pahang in June 2023, he served as the Commandant of the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) Kuala Lumpur.
Other senior positions he has held include Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department for Pahang and Deputy Chief of Staff for Ground Operations at the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom).
Noor Hisam also served in the Bukit Aman Training Division while holding the rank of Superintendent.
It is understood that the handover ceremony for the Perak Police Chief position will be held soon to officially transfer the duties, which have been temporarily handled by Deputy Commissioner Zulkafli Sariaat.
