IPOH: The Blood Donation Center at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Ipoh (HPRB) has now relocated to a new building to provide better services to donors.
It is now located in the newly built and fully equipped Department of Transfusion Medicine building at HRPB Ipoh.
This move to the new building will further enhance the experience for blood donors, who are considered heroes and heroines in the eyes of the community.
The Assistant Information Officer at the Department of Transfusion Medicine at HRPB, Khairul Anuar Mohd Nor, said that the center currently has seven beds in use.
He mentioned that the new location has a maximum capacity of 15 beds, with a target of 30 blood donors per day at the center.
“There are five staff members working at this center, while 12 others are part of the mobile blood donation team.
“At the new location, we also provide parking spaces for donors, which makes their visit more convenient,” he said.
Also available are a prayer room and a rest area.
The regular operating hours for the Department of Transfusion Medicine at HRPB Ipoh are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
However, during the month of Ramadan, from March 3 to 28, the HPRB Blood Donation Center will be open until 9:30 p.m. to accommodate donors.
Like regular months, the center will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
“What’s special during Ramadan is that we also provide free iftar meals to blood donors.
“The meals change daily, and this is also a way to show appreciation to the heroes and heroines who donate blood while also fulfilling their fasting duties,” he added.
