136 people including students stranded after bridge collapse

TANJUNG MALIM: A total of 136 people, including 81 students from Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic in Behrang, were stranded following the collapse of a bridge at the main access road to Hot Spring Felda Sungai Klah, Kampung Tisong, and Buyong Mas Sanctuary Camp Site today.

According to Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Assistant Director of Operations, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the fire department, along with other agencies, is working to evacuate all victims using an alternative route.

“The bridge collapsed, cutting off both entry and exit access.

“About 45 people, consisting of 17 families — 39 adults and 16 children — were stranded at Hot Spring Sungai Klah.

“In addition, there were also residents of Kampung Tisong, 81 students from Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic attending a course at Buyong Mas Sanctuary Camp Site, as well as 10 workers at the site,” he said on Sunday.

Agencies involved in the rescue efforts include the Batang Padang District Office, Bidor Fire and Rescue Station, the police, and the Muallim Civil Defense Force.
