KAMPAR: The lakeside recreational park near Taman Kinta is expected to complete its upgrading works by this June.

Teja State Assemblywoman, Sandrea Ng Shy Ching, said that reinforcement work on the lake’s embankment is currently underway due to minor collapses along the edge.

She added that only after this will the upgrading of the 1.4-kilometer jogging track around the lake be able to proceed.

“The restoration works will continue with repairs to the path areas that have been damaged by tree roots or are significantly worn out.

“The Kampar District Council (MDKpr) has allocated RM500,000 for the upgrading project.

“This recreational park is a popular spot for locals to exercise and relax.

“Last year, we worked to improve the facilities by building an activity platform and installing basic exercise equipment for public use,” she said.

She also noted that landscape and lighting improvements are currently being studied.

“For your information, last year we installed five units of solar-powered lights as a trial, but unfortunately, three of them were stolen just a few days after installation.

“Public facilities belong to everyone. I urge all parties to take care of and appreciate them. Avoid vandalism and misuse so this park remains safe and comfortable for everyone,” she added.

She further stated that during the upgrading works, parts of the park will be temporarily closed.
