IPOH: An illegal store found stockpiling controlled diesel without a permit in Kampung Kepayang was raided by enforcement officers from the Perak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) on Tuesday.

Its Director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said that during the raid, 1,800 liters of liquid suspected to be diesel were discovered in the store, which functioned as a ‘diesel bank’.

He said a 63-year-old local man, who claimed to be a lorry driver, failed to produce any authorization letter, license, or permit to store the controlled item.

“The raid was conducted following intelligence gathering and a week of surveillance.

“The syndicate’s modus operandi involved purchasing diesel from unlicensed suppliers and storing it in this illegal facility.

“It was then sold to industrial parties around Ipoh at a lower price than the market rate,” he said in a statement here today.

As a result, authorities seized 1,800 liters of suspected diesel, two Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) with hoses, and a lorry, with the total estimated seizure value amounting to RM55,270.

Kamalludin said the case will be investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 for suspected possession or storage of scheduled controlled goods (diesel) without written permission from the Controller of Supplies.
