IPOH: Which location will be crowned Ipoh’s Best Night Market?
The answer will soon be revealed as the Ipoh City Council (MBI) is organizing this competition for the very first time to recognize the contributions of night market organizers and traders.
This inaugural initiative by MBI aims to acknowledge the vital role of night market organizers, hawkers, and small traders in driving the local economy.
In addition, it provides participants with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and quality of service.
The competition also serves as a platform to foster entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and healthy competition among the city’s microeconomic players.
Participation is open to all night market organizers registered with MBI, as part of efforts to strengthen strategic ties between the local authority and the business community.
A briefing session for the MBI Best Night Market Competition No. 1/2025 was recently held, with the attendance of 18 night market organizers from across MBI’s administrative zones.
The participants included 9 hawker associations, 6 residents’ associations, and 3 mosque/surau committees.
The session was officiated by MBI Senior Director (Administration & Operations), Abdul Halim Saad.
Also present were City Health Director, M Raman a/l Maran, and MBI Director of Enforcement and Security, Ahmad Zaiyadi Sudin.
