MANJUNG: The Licensing and Enforcement Department of the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) has seized 25 tables and 88 chairs used at food premises operating without valid permits.
The operation targeted traders conducting business in public areas without authorization, including pedestrian walkways and parking spaces.

According to a spokesperson from the local authority, the action was taken after several warning notices had previously been issued.
“However, there are still traders who remain stubborn and have not applied for valid permits.
“Enforcement action was taken for the offense of placing business equipment in public areas under Section 46(1) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974,” said the spokesperson.
MPM emphasized that it does not prohibit the placement of additional dining tables but such actions must go through proper application and comply with the established laws and procedures.
Traders involved are urged to apply for table permits and obtain approval before placing tables in public areas.
“We will continue to conduct regular operations. Food premises or hawkers without valid permits are advised to come forward to the office immediately to process their applications,” the spokesperson added.
The trader community is encouraged to contact the Council for further information regarding the proper permit application procedures.
