Beruas Town Revives Gangga Negara’s History Through Mural Art

By Zaki Salleh
BERUAS: The town of Beruas is now adorned in vibrant colors with the presence of captivating street art murals.
These murals depict the ancient history of Gangga Negara and the local cultural heritage.

This creative initiative not only transforms the landscape of this small town in the Manjung district but also ignites a passion for history and art among the local community and visitors.
The mural project is a collaboration between the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) and Vale, implemented by a collective of local artists, including the Lakar Mekar art group.

One of the most eye-catching pieces is a portrait of a woman in full traditional attire, alongside an illustration of the Beruas tree.
This plant is synonymous with the town’s name and makes for a perfect spot for selfies or OOTD (Outfit of the Day) photo sessions.

Each mural painted on the town’s building walls tells its own story — from tales of the Gangga Negara era to traditional Perak motifs and symbols of ancient Malay culture.
These murals serve not only as aesthetic decorations but also as a visual educational medium connecting today’s generation with their historical roots.
Visitors can now enjoy a walking tour through artistic alleys while immersing themselves in inspiring stories of the past.
