IPOH: The Nippon Street Ipoh program became a major attraction as thousands of visitors, especially die-hard fans of Japanese animation, gathered at the HUGH’s Ipoh compound on Jalan Sultan Iskandar.

Organized by Greenery Market, the four-day event which began on July 17 transformed the space into a vibrant hub of performances and vendor booths.

Project Director Wong Kok Hoe said various exciting Japan-themed activities were held, including a Cosplay competition on the final day and the event’s grand finale at night.
“On the first day, we had a Sushi Workshop, drawing activities, and more.
“On the last day, there was a random dance session, and more than 30 participants from across Perak, mainly from Ipoh took part in the Cosplay contest,” he said when met at the event.

He added that over 100 booths were set up, offering merchandise, food, and beverages many of which were inspired by Japanese animation.
“It wasn’t just about performances and dancing. We also offered a wide variety of unique vendor stalls, mostly featuring Japanese products for visitors to enjoy,” he said.

Several attendees came dressed in cosplay not to compete, but out of passion and to show their support for the Cosplay event.
