IPOH: Seven MADANI Recreational Parks (TRM) in Ipoh will be maintained by private company Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK) through a collaboration with the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
Through this partnership, KLK will take on the responsibility of maintaining the selected TRM locations for a period of two years.
The parks involved are TRM Woodland Park 1 and TRM Woodland Park 2 in Tambun, TRM Canning Garden, TRM Bandar Baru Putra, TRM Westpool Park, TRM Pengkalan Barat, and TRM First Garden.
Maintenance work includes grass cutting and area cleaning to ensure the parks continue to serve their function as community recreational spaces.
This collaboration between MBI and KLK is hoped to serve as a model for other private companies in Perak to also share in the social responsibility of maintaining public parks.
The initiative aligns with the aspirations of Perak Sejahtera 2030, which emphasizes inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development.
Such partnerships not only ease the maintenance burden on local authorities but also represent smart cooperation between the public and private sectors for the benefit of the people and the environment.
Earlier, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Mayor of Ipoh, Zamakhshari Hanipah, and KLK Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Lee Oi Hian.
In his speech, Oi Hian stated that the Taman Angkat MADANI program is part of KLK’s corporate social responsibility initiative that emphasizes environmental sustainability and the welfare of the local community.
Interestingly, the maintenance work also involves NGOs and drug rehabilitation centers, providing employment opportunities and empowering often-marginalized communities.
