PANGKOR ISLAND: From waste to something useful.

A creative and sustainable initiative by the Landscape Unit of the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) has drawn public attention after producing a set of chairs and tables made from recycled materials.

This innovative project involves the use of various recyclable items such as drink bottles, paint buckets, plywood boards, and ropes.

In just 14 days, a total of 447 drink bottles were successfully collected.

These discarded materials were used to complete decorations that have now become an attraction in a popular tourist area.

The installation is located at Dataran Kapal, Pasir Bogak, one of the well-known destinations on Pangkor Island.

This structure not only serves as a public facility but also stands as a symbol of the local community’s commitment to environmental preservation through recycling practices.

The initiative has been praised by both locals and tourists, who view it as a smart move in raising awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability.

The MPM Landscape Unit deserves recognition for not only repurposing waste materials but also showcasing creativity in beautifying a tourist area.
