In a continued effort to promote policy transparency and strengthen investor confidence, Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) today hosted the 16th edition of its Special Coffee Series at Hotel Casuarina @ Meru, bringing together nearly 300 entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and industry representatives from across Perak.
Co-organised with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Perak) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Perak, this highly anticipated session focused on the expanded scope of the Sales and Service Tax (SST), which took effect on 1 July 2025.

The overwhelming response with registrations reaching full capacity just hours after opening, underscores the urgent demand for direct and practical understanding of the new tax regulations among the business community.
According to Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak, Chief Executive of PKNPk, the session was not just about tax policy but about building clarity, trust and operational resilience among local industries.
“We don’t want policies to exist in silos, detached from the realities on the ground. This is not just about tax compliance but it’s about helping businesses operate with clarity, make informed decisions and remain competitive. When businesses are well-informed, compliance becomes natural and the economy becomes more resilient,” he said.
He added that such initiatives reflect PKNPk’s role as a proactive enabler and connector between government institutions and the private sector especially in navigating a rapidly evolving regulatory and economic landscape.
“In a fast-moving world, communication between government and industry needs to be faster, more open and more responsive. That’s the very purpose of this series; to make sure information doesn’t just travel top-down but also reaches the operational core of every company with the clarity they need,” said Datuk Redza.
The event also saw the participation of Puan Suzana binti Sarif, Deputy Director of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department Perak, and Mr Mark Chan Chow Loong, Deputy Chairman of FMM Perak.
Held in an informal yet high-impact format, the session allowed participants to directly raise questions with Customs representatives, covering key issues such as sector-based exemptions, transitional arrangements, registration processes and updated reporting requirements.
Participants responded positively to the platform, praising the candid dialogue and real-time guidance, a refreshing departure from more formal bureaucratic engagements.
Since its inception, the Special Coffee Series has evolved into one of the most trusted platforms for industry-government dialogue in Perak, with 16 editions held to date, including six in 2025 alone. It has become a consistent part of the state’s industrial support ecosystem.
This initiative aligns with Perak Sejahtera 2030, specifically Flagship 9: Investor-Friendly Programme, which aims to create a transparent, business-friendly and responsive policy environment in Perak.
“PKNPk aims to ensure that industries in Perak are equipped with the right knowledge and tools to contribute effectively to the state’s economic growth. PKNPk remains committed to serving as a strategic bridge between the government and the private
sector, ensuring that local industries continue to grow competitively, comply intelligently with policies, and contribute sustainably to Perak’s economy,” Datuk Redza concluded.
With five more editions planned before year-end, PKNPk reaffirms its commitment to championing open dialogue, inclusive development and shared prosperity across Perak’s industrial landscape.
