Local Council Members Key to Bridging Government and Community in Perak Sejahtera 2030

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: Local Government Authority (PBT) councillors are seen as a key component in implementing the empowerment agenda for local councils outlined under the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan.

They serve as a direct link between the people and the administration.

PBT councillors not only represent the voices of the community but also ensure that government policies are effectively translated at the grassroots level.

This point was emphasized by Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, during the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Executive Talk Programme: The Menteri Besar with Local Government Councillors (PBT).

The Menteri Besar stressed that the councillors’ commitment to understanding policy aspirations, aligning with local needs, and carrying out their duties with integrity is a crucial driver for the state’s overall development success.

Earlier, the session served as a strategic two-way communication platform between the state leadership and local council members from across Perak.

Held at Galasa Caldwell, the program functioned as an important avenue to strengthen policy coordination between the state government and local authorities, particularly in the pursuit of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 goals.

Through an interactive dialogue featuring Saarani as a panelist, various current issues, on-the-ground challenges, and suggestions for improvement were discussed.

Key discussion areas included improving service delivery efficiency, increasing community participation in local development, and other relevant topics.
