UTAR Community Program Collects Rubbish at Teluk Batik Beach

By Zaki Salleh

LUMUT: The weekend was put to good use by 54 students from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Kampar Campus, as they took part in a beach clean-up program at Teluk Batik Beach.

Organized through the UTAR Community Service Society and led by its president, Chan Tse Hong, the students collaborated with the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM).

This program not only instilled a sense of environmental responsibility but also served as a strategic collaboration platform between both parties.

The objective of the initiative was to encourage beachgoers to be more responsible by not littering and instead using trash bins to dispose of waste properly.

Teluk Batik Beach in Lumut follows a “Take Back What You Bring” campaign after visitors spend time at the beach.

This campaign, initiated in 2020 by the Teluk Batik Tourism Management Unit under the Community and Social Development Department of the Manjung Municipal Council, has shown positive results.

Thanks to its success, the amount of rubbish collected at Teluk Batik is significantly less compared to the litter found at Teluk Senangin Beach, Lumut, and Pasir Panjang Beach, Segari.

As the slogan goes, “Our beach belongs to everyone,” so let’s appreciate it and keep it clean.
