KUALA KANGSAR: Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, has officiated the opening of the Sultan Muzzaffar Shah Bridge, marking it as one of the latest landmarks in Kuala Kangsar.

Also in attendance was the Permaisuri of Perak,Tuanku Zara Salim.

The bridge, which spans the Perak River, stretches 300 meters and includes a 3-kilometer connecting road that links Pekan Manong and Kampung Seberang Manong.

More than just a physical structure, the bridge has been described as a ‘bridge of love’ — reconnecting communities long separated by the river and time.

Built at a cost of RM37.8 million, the bridge has brought a significant positive impact to the daily lives of local residents.

Travel time between Kampung Seberang Manong and Pekan Manong, which used to take up to 45 minutes, has now been reduced to just 15 minutes.

In his speech, Minister of Works, Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi highlighted the importance of the bridge in uniting communities and driving local progress.

“With this bridge, people will enjoy greater mobility, economic opportunities will widen, and local sectors such as trade, agriculture, and tourism will continue to grow,” he said.

He also emphasized that the project reflects the government’s aspirations for development that not only focuses on physical progress, but also prioritizes the well-being of the people.

Additionally, he expressed his appreciation to the Perak Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, and the entire state government team for their strong cooperation in making the project a success for the benefit of the people.
