IPOH: Two vacant shop lots were destroyed in a fire along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Pekan Baru early Wednesday morning.


According to a spokesperson from the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the two double-storey shops were 80% and 5% burned, respectively, but no casualties were reported.


The incident occurred at around 6:25 a.m., prompting the deployment of 47 firefighters from the Ipoh, Meru Raya, and Pasir Putih fire stations, along with volunteers from Pekan Baru, Menglembu, and Pasir Pinji.


“Firefighters used water from the fire engines’ tanks to extinguish the blaze, and it was fully put out by 9:29 a.m.,” the spokesperson said.
