Old Stalls in Taman Bersatu, Simpang Pulai Need to Be Cleared

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: Abandoned old stalls along the main road near the night market site in Taman Bersatu, Simpang Pulai, have sparked concern among local residents.

The area appears neglected, poorly maintained, and increasingly overgrown with weeds.

Once used for business, the stalls have now become dilapidated structures that are unpleasant to look at.

More worryingly, the unkempt surroundings could potentially become breeding grounds for mosquitoes and dangerous animals such as snakes and rats.

Local residents are urging the local authorities (PBT) to take immediate action to clean up the area and dismantle the remnants of the abandoned stalls.

“This area is not only an eyesore, but it also poses health and safety risks. It shouldn’t be left in this condition,” said a resident, Syed Izhar Syed Safawi.

In addition, residents are also calling on traders who are no longer operating at the site to take greater responsibility for their stalls.

“If they’re no longer doing business, they should clean and vacate their stalls. Don’t leave them as a burden to the community and the local authorities,” he added.

The issue of abandoned stalls is not limited to Taman Bersatu; similar situations have been reported in several other areas around Ipoh, especially in residential neighborhoods.

This reflects poorly on the cleanliness and maintenance of public spaces.

The public hopes that proactive measures will be taken by the relevant authorities to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and harmony of the environment are well maintained.
