IPOH: A tree with one of its branches overhanging onto Jalan Pengkalan Barat 18, in the direction of SMK Kampung Pasir Putih, has raised concerns among road users.
The branch has been extending over the road shoulder for several months now.
If not careful, the branch could pose a danger to the public, especially motorcyclists traveling along that stretch.
Although an attempt has been made to warn road users by hanging a yellow plastic bottle from the branch, this measure is seen as insufficient and only temporary.
According to local resident Hakim Ali, the situation is very worrying, particularly at night or during heavy rain when drivers’ visibility is limited.
He said many are concerned that an accident could happen if the branch is not removed soon.
“This has been going on for a long time, but no action has been taken by the authorities.
“That large branch sticks out into the road — if a motorcyclist doesn’t notice it in time, they could crash into it. Right now, there’s only a piece of plastic marking it, and that’s only if you manage to see it,” he said.
Residents and road users are pleading with the local authorities to take immediate action to cut or remove the branch before any unwanted incident occurs.
The safety of road users should be a priority, and any obstacles such as this must be addressed without delay.
Concern and swift action from the responsible authorities are highly anticipated.
