IPOH: A special site visit will be carried out this week by engineers from the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to Jalan Tambun near Taman Tambun.

MBI Council Member Chief Whip, Datuk Mazlan Abdul Rahman, said during an interview that he, along with the engineers, will visit the location to assess whether it is suitable to install a speed bump there.

He stated that he is aware of and understands the requests from residents and complainants regarding the matter, aimed at ensuring that vehicles slow down in the area.

However, he noted that a decision will only be made after an evaluation is conducted following the site visit.

“This involves technical aspects and requires an assessment by the engineers involved. Only after the visit can we confirm whether it is feasible to build a speed bump in the middle of the road.

“That road is a main route and there have indeed been requests for a large speed bump and similar measures, as safety is a major concern.

“For now, what’s certain is that we will extend the red and yellow road markings further back, and install a convex mirror,” he said.

He added that several improvements have already been made in the area following public complaints.

Among the measures taken are the additions of red and yellow stripes, clearing of trees that obstruct the road, and the installation of warning lights.

Mazlan also invited the complainants and local residents to join the site visit, which is expected to take place this Wednesday.

This, he said, is important to provide feedback and understanding to the relevant parties, in order to avoid any future misunderstandings related to the issue.
