Ipoh – A citywide gotong-royong (community cleanup) will take place tomorrow (Saturday) across 21 residential areas in conjunction with Malaysia Clean Day 2025.

The large-scale initiative, organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI), will be coordinated by councillors in their respective zones.

Open to all members of the community regardless of age, race or background, the programme aims to promote a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable living environment.

The main event will be held at Dataran MBI from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Perak State Executive Councillor for Housing and Local Government, Sandrea Ng.

Aside from the cleanup, a range of activities will be hosted at the main venue, including exhibitions, e-waste and used cooking oil collection, community health promotions, and a recycled goods fair.

Residents are encouraged to bring old electronic items and used cooking oil to be resold at designated collection points.

According to MBI, the initiative is not only about cleaning but also serves as a platform to raise civic awareness, encourage recycling practices, and foster shared responsibility in protecting the environment.
