IPOH — More than 900 participants embraced the challenge of leading a healthier lifestyle while raising awareness about heart disease through the five-kilometre Heart Fun Run 2025 held yesterday.

The event was the highlight of the 82nd edition of Ipoh Low Carbon Day (ILCD), organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) in collaboration with the Perak State Health Department (JKNP) and Taska Al-Ameen.

This year’s edition was held in line with the Malaysia Day celebrations and the Malaysia Sihat Sejahtera (BMSS) 2025 month, themed “Budayakan Hidup Sihat, Kukuhkan Imuniti Badan” (Foster Healthy Living, Strengthen Immunity).

The Heart Fun Run was also held in conjunction with World Heart Day 2025, observed annually on September 29 with the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat,” urging the public to safeguard heart health through balanced nutrition, an active lifestyle, and risk management for conditions such as hypertension, cholesterol and obesity.

In addition, Taska Al-Ameen brought along 117 participants, including children, teachers, and parents, as part of its Fit & Fun Day programme, featuring interactive activities such as walking on a balance beam, throwing balls into baskets and solving nature puzzles.

The 82nd ILCD successfully fostered healthier practices among the community while supporting efforts to transform Ipoh into a low-carbon city.
