KUALA KANGSAR: A soldier died while another was injured when military truck they were in was involved in an accident at kilometer 257 of Northbound PLUS Highway, just after the Menora Tunnel here today.
The Acting Assistant Director of Operations of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah, said that in the incident, five others were rescued and evacuated before the firefighters arrived at the scene.
He said the accident occurred around 4:59 p.m., and firefighters from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Stations rushed to the location.
“The accident involved seven victims inside the truck. Five victims had been evacuated before the fire engine arrived.
“Two victims were trapped at the rear. The first victim was rescued at 5:54 p.m. but was pronounced dead.
“The second victim was rescued at 6:14 p.m. in an injured condition,” he said.
