IPOH: Thousands of students from Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) are set to benefit from a strategic collaboration established between the institution and eight companies and organizations.
This collaboration encompasses industrial training placements, employment opportunities, staff training, research studies, equipment sharing, and knowledge exchange.

Director of Politeknik Ungku Omar, Dr. Salmi Che Meh, stated that the agreements strengthen strategic relationships with industry partners.
“Ongoing efforts to collaborate with various agencies and companies will continue to be a priority for PUO to ensure the technical education ecosystem grows in line with the needs of the industry and local community,” she said.

She made the remarks in a statement during the Career Connect @ PUO 2025 Program and the launch of PUO Counselling Month 2025 held here.
The Letters of Intent (LOIs) for the collaborations involved eight companies, including the International Cultural Communication Center Malaysia, Barakah Systems Sdn. Bhd., Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and Kopetro Food Sdn. Bhd.
Also participating were Proweld Training Centre Sdn. Bhd., Crescent Gear Solution Sdn. Bhd., Universitas Dian Nusantara, and Hande (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

Meanwhile, Salmi added that the Career Connect @ PUO 2025 program achieved its goal, with over 1,000 campus members, including graduates, in attendance.
Participants took part in various activities such as mental wellness workshops, seminar sessions, and open interview sessions involving 30 companies.
She noted that such programs provide opportunities for PUO students and graduates to engage directly with industry representatives and expand their professional networks.
The program also serves as a platform for PUO to strengthen its collaboration with industry and the local community.
