Pangkor ADUN Shows Care, Gives Deepavali Aid

By Zaki Salleh

PANGKOR: Concerned for the welfare of the local community ahead of the festive season, the Pangkor State Assembly Service Centre remains committed to supporting those in need.

Continuing the tradition during major celebrations such as Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year, this year’s Deepavali is also marked with the distribution of contributions to the community.

A total of 45 residents received boxes of essential food items as a gesture of care and support in the lead-up to the upcoming Deepavali celebration.

Pangkor State Assemblywoman, Norhaslinda Zakaria, stated that this initiative is part of her ongoing efforts to ensure no group is left behind in enjoying well-being.

“In conjunction with Deepavali, we visited several homes around Pulau Pangkor as part of our Ziarah Kasih Deepavali (Deepavali Love Visit) program.

“During these visits, we reached out to families facing hardships — some bedridden, some battling stage 4 cancer, and others living alone.

“As a show of concern, we provided basic necessities to ease their festive preparations.

“We hope our presence brings a bit of light and joy ahead of the upcoming Deepavali celebration,” she said.

Also present was the Chairperson of the Dewi Sri Neelakabali Temple in Pangkor, K. Kumaresan, who expressed appreciation for the concern shown by the Pangkor State Assemblywoman towards the Indian community in the area.
