YMCA Hosting Healthy Aging Day

In continuation of their contributions to the community, Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Ipoh, with the support of Angsana Health, Pantai Hospital and ConnecticaZen, will be hosting a ‘Healthy Aging Day’ event on 25 October, from 9 am to 1 pm, at 211, Jalan Raja Musa Aziz (Anderson Road), 30300 Ipoh.

This event, which will open with the planting of a ‘Dementia tree’, will not only feature a suite of Dementia-friendly activities, but there will be opportunities to speak with medical representatives on offers available for senior citizens. Also available will be a booth by ConnecticaZen, who offer products and workshops on safety for senior citizens, especially for those living by themselves.

The events for the day will be:

– Joint-friendly exercises by Vitality Health.
– MIND Diet talk by Ms. Fatin Izzary from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), a dietician who will talk on food that is good for the brain.
– Brain Games by Dr. Ginsky from Angsana Health, which will help keep the mind of senior citizens sharp.
– An opportunity to learn something new, which is to learn sign language.

Visiting the event to give a speech on Law & Institutional Reforms for the Aging Population of Malaysia will be YB M. Kulasegaran, Deputy Minister, Law & Institutional Reforms. As well as a speech by Mrs. HK Chong from GreenAcres and closing remarks by Dr. Premala Subramaniam, Consultant Geriatrician and Physician from Pantai Hospital Ipoh.
