TAIPING – All department heads have been instructed to activate the Ihsan Madani Civil Servants Squad to assist in post-flood cleaning and recovery efforts once floodwaters recede.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the squad operates under the coordination of the State Secretary’s Office.

He said the move is crucial to expedite post-flood recovery efforts and ensure that affected areas are restored as soon as possible.

“Today, I visited several temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in the districts of Manjung and Larut, Matang and Selama (LMS).

“The visit was to assess the condition of flood victims and ensure all forms of assistance are being channelled efficiently and systematically,” he said on Saturday.

As of noon, a total of 26 PPS remain in operation across four districts — LMS, Manjung, Perak Tengah, and Kerian — housing 2,973 victims from 1,010 families.

LMS recorded the highest number of evacuees with 2,065 people, followed by Manjung (597), Kerian (201), and Perak Tengah (110).

Among the PPS visited were SK Sungai Batu in Pantai Remis, SK Beruas, SK Temerlok in Trong, and Masjid Al-Wusta Changkat Jering.

“At SK Matang Gelugor PPS, I was informed that 144 victims from 43 families have been housed there since its opening on October 23.

“Following this, I will continue my visit to two more PPS — ADTEC Taiping and Masjid Ali Rouse Batu Kurau,” he added.

Saarani said all security and emergency agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, police, army, Social Welfare Department, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Public Works Department, and local authorities, have been mobilised to carry out rescue operations.

He added that basic facilities have been provided at all PPS to ensure the well-being of evacuees.

“All residents in high-risk areas are reminded to remain vigilant, comply with authorities’ instructions, and avoid activities near rivers, canals, or flood-prone areas.

“The State Disaster Management Committee, together with all relevant agencies, will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that aid is delivered promptly, efficiently and comprehensively,” he said.
