IPOH: While many are focusing on the flood disaster in Larut Matang and Selama (LMS), the calamity has also hit the district of Perak Tengah.
According to one of the residents, more than 30 families — involving over 100 victims — are taking shelter at the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Layang-Layang Kiri, Parit.
He said that continuous rainfall throughout the week had caused flooding in Kampung Parit 6.
“Many houses have been affected since last night, and about 30 houses are involved.
“It is hoped that assistance and contributions can be provided to the flood victims — at least to ease their burden until they can return to their homes later — as much of their property has been badly damaged,” he said.
According to the District Disaster Management Committee on Saturday, four districts have been affected by the floods so far.
These include LMS, Manjung, Kerian, and Perak Tengah, with the number of flood victims increasing — a total of 3,033 people from 1,036 families have been placed at 27 PPS centres as of 2 p.m.
