Don’t Panic, Disaster Simulation Drill at Kledang Saiong This Thursday

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: The public is advised not to panic if they see a large presence of police and rescue agency vehicles at Taman Eko Rimba Kledang Saiong, Meru, on October 30.

This is because a disaster management simulation exercise will be conducted by the Perak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK Perak) on that date, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said the integrated exercise will involve 12 government agencies.

He explained that the objective is to enhance the preparedness, coordination, and cooperation among all security and rescue agencies in handling real disaster situations.

“During the exercise, there will be the movement of personnel and assets from various government agencies around the training area,” he said in a statement.

He also informed that the training area will be closed to the public throughout the duration of the drill to ensure smooth operations and everyone’s safety.

The public is also urged not to spread false information about the activity and to fully cooperate with the authorities during the exercise.

According to Abang Zainal, all personnel and asset movements seen around the Meru area on that day are part of the simulation and not an actual emergency.

Exercises like this are part of IPK Perak’s ongoing efforts to ensure all involved agencies remain at an optimal level of readiness to respond to any potential disaster incidents in the state.
