IPOH: The issue of dark roads due to non-functioning street lights is frequently reported by residents in Ipoh, especially near the city centre.
Even when not broken, some lamp posts have tilted, believed to have been hit during accidents.
The image of Ipoh City should be well maintained—not only in terms of road conditions, cleanliness, and greenery, but also in terms of lighting at night, which is important for public safety.

A complainant said that many street lights were not working along Jalan Raja Musa Aziz, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, and Jalan Raja Ekram.
“I would like to report the issue of broken street lights in the city centre, which the public has been facing for quite some time.
“There are eight LED street lights along Jalan Raja Musa Aziz that are not lit.
“Similarly, along Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, six street lights are not functioning.
“Four street lights along Jalan Raja Ekram have not been working for a long time.
“In addition, one of the street lights on Jalan Raja Ekram is believed to have been hit, causing the pole to dent and the bulb to come off,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

He further stressed that the Ipoh City Council (MBI) and the relevant authorities should conduct regular inspections around Ipoh to ensure that any damage can be repaired promptly.
“I urge MBI to immediately replace the damaged street light poles with new ones equipped with LED bulbs to ensure public safety,” he added.
