By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: Nearly 300 unregistered health and cosmetic products worth about RM1.5 million were seized following public complaints and monitoring by the authorities.

The operation was carried out by the Perak State Health Department through the Pharmaceutical Enforcement Branch (CPF) of Perak.

Inspections were conducted at four premises around Bercham, Meru, and Jelapang.

The seized items included traditional medicines, unregistered foreign-branded pharmaceutical products, and unnotified cosmetics.

Three digital devices were also confiscated.

Meanwhile, the Perak CPF stated that the sale of unregistered products and unnotified cosmetics is an offense under Regulations 7(1)(a) and 18A(1)(a) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984.

If found guilty, individuals or companies in possession of such products may face imprisonment, a fine of up to RM100,000, or both.

“This enforcement action is part of CPF Perak’s ongoing efforts to combat the sale and distribution of illegal health products in the Malaysian market,” the statement said.
