IPOH: A total of 80 students from ten schools around Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) participated in the SciTech4U – MOSTI STEM Camp 2025.
The programme aims to cultivate early interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) while strengthening collaboration between educational institutions and the local community.


In its statement, PUO said the programme, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), aligns with Thrust 5 of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (DSTIN) 2021–2030, which emphasises the cultivation and application of Science, Technology, Innovation and Economy (STIE) among society.
“The programme also involved 20 children from Tadika KEMAS Kg Kurnia.
“Meanwhile, five pupils from SK Sahom Kampar served as student facilitators together with 30 Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering students and 15 students from PUO’s Mechanical Engineering Department,” it said.


It added that the overall activities were led by Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DKM) students with support from SMK Raja Chulan’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), the Department of Chemistry Malaysia (Perak), Perak State Education Department (JPN), Kinta Utara and Kinta Selatan District Education Offices (PPD), as well as KEMAS Kampar District.
“Activities conducted included STEM kit construction and testing.
“In addition, participants took part in engineering workshop visits, industrial simulations and group findings presentations,” it said.
