The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Perak celebrated its 188th Anniversary at WEIL Hotel Ipoh with a gathering that brought business leaders and government representatives together.
The event marked the chamber’s ongoing work in strengthening Perak’s business environment and supporting industry growth.
MICCI is one of Malaysia’s oldest business chambers. It plays a crucial role in helping companies understand policies, manage regulatory matters and stay connected to national economic developments.
The Perak Branch continues this work by supporting local industries and providing reliable channels for businesses to engage with government agencies.

The Chairman of MICCI Perak Branch, Mr Jean François Chavériat, opened the evening with a firm message about the chamber’s evolving role in the state. MICCI’s responsibilities now extend beyond networking. The chamber supports businesses through policy updates, industry concerns and changes shaping Perak’s economic direction.
He encouraged members to stay engaged with MICCI’s initiatives as the state moves into new phases of industrial development.
His message aligned with the views shared by the Guest of Honour, YB Loh Sze Yee, who oversees Perak’s tourism, industry, investment and corridor development portfolio. YB Loh stressed that steady cooperation between the government and the business community remains essential.
He noted that new industries continue to enter the state, creating opportunities for investment and growth.

MICCI remains an important platform for connecting local industries with policymakers. Through consultations, feedback channels and regular briefings, the chamber provides members with timely information that helps them navigate regulations, incentives and broader economic developments.
This clarity allows businesses in Perak to remain informed and better prepared for upcoming changes.
The anniversary gathering welcomed new members and recognised this year’s top Certificate of Origin customers. It also acknowledged companies that have supported MICCI for many years, including Lysaght Corrugated Pipe Sdn Bhd, which marked its fiftieth year with the chamber.
These acknowledgements show the depth and stability of MICCI’s network in Perak.

In his closing message, Vice Chairman I of MICCI Perak Branch, Mr Nicholas Goh, noted that although industries continue to face challenges, confidence in Perak’s investment direction is growing.
He reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to providing a constructive space for industry engagement and ensuring that members receive practical information that supports their operations.
The 188th Anniversary highlighted MICCI’s long established role in supporting businesses in Perak. The chamber continues to advocate for its members and strengthen communication with government agencies.
As new investments emerge across the state, MICCI is expanding its efforts to engage with industry and provide meaningful support to the business community.
