Animal lovers in the country are shocked and taken aback to witness the increasing number of incidents of stray dogs being cruelly handled by the local council stray management team.
There are several video clips circulating over the social media with regards to this unethical and questionable handling tactics of strays by the local council stray management teams. It appears, in the name of stray management, the poor creatures are subjected to unnecessary stress and injuries.
On behalf of the animal lovers in the country I appeal to the local council stray managing teams to strictly adhere to the stipulated SOP so that unnecessary injuries or harm is avoided during stray trappings. We understand the challenges faced by the local council stray trapping team but its paramount to ensure the trapped stray dogs or cats are handled in a compassionate manner.
Having said that, I wish to draw the attention of the government to a recent proposal by our honorable MP Lee Cheng Chung in parliament recently urging the government to consider making TNRM (Trap, Neuter, Release and Management) as a government sponsored national project to help curb the stray problems in the country.
Animal lovers in the country are delighted and welcome the timely proposal by the said member of Parliament and hope the authorities and our PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is also the finance minister will consider the proposal compassionately.
