IPOH: The number of flood victims in Perak continues to rise to 4,341 people from 1,377 families, according to the latest data from the Disaster Info Portal of the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
The district with the highest number of flood victims is Manjung, with 1,830 people from 545 families relocated to 15 Temporary Relief Centres (PPS).


This is followed by Perak Tengah, where 850 people from 277 families have been moved to nine PPS.
A total of 43 PPS have been opened across eight districts, with the PPS at the District Officer’s Hall in Hilir Perak being the latest to be activated as a precautionary measure.
According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), all 12 districts in Perak are expected to experience rain throughout the day, including heavy rain and thunderstorms.


Among them are Bagan Datuk, Batang Padang, Hilir Perak, Kampar, Kinta, Kuala Kangsar, Muallim and Perak Tengah.
Meanwhile, the Manjung District Officer has conducted monitoring visits to several PPS following a sudden increase in the number of flood victims in the past 24 hours.
The visits aim to assess PPS operations, evaluate current needs, and ensure the welfare of the victims through coordinated action with related agencies.


In Pangkor Island, several areas have reportedly been affected by landslides and unsafe building structures.
The affected location is Sekolah Menengah Tahfiz Darul Ridzuan, Pangkor Island.
The school has been declared unsafe for use due to a landslide occurring near its premises.
