KAMPAR: Several incidents of mosque break-ins have been reported in the Kampar district since September, with the latest occurring at Al-Jauhariah Mosque in Kuala Dipang.
Tualang Sekah State Assemblyman (ADUN), Azlan Helmi, said his office will request the police to increase regular patrols around mosques and other houses of worship in Kampar.
“I received information about the break-in at Al-Jauhariah Mosque in Kuala Dipang on Tuesday.
“The incident is believed to have occurred between 9 and 10 p.m., based on closed-circuit camera recordings.
“There was also a reported attempt to break into the cleaning equipment storage room at Jamek Mosque, Kampung Jeram, this morning.
“Break-ins have also occurred at Ar-Rahman Mosque in Kampung Gunung Mesah Hilir and Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Malim Nawar.
“Mosque break-ins in the Kampar district also frequently occurred around September,” he said today.
He added that the issue was also raised at the Kampar District Development Action Committee Meeting.
During the meeting, the Kampar District Police Headquarters, through a verbal response from Kampar District Police Chief Supt Mohamad Nazri Daud, informed that one arrest had been made as a result of investigations into the reported incidents.
