KERIAN: A Compliance Operation was carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of IPD Kerian to prevent motorists from making dangerous U-turns and to reduce accident rates in the Kerian District recently.

According to a statement from IPD Kerian, eight vehicles were issued summonses for making illegal U-turns during the operation.
“Another 22 vehicles were summoned for various other offences,” it said.
The statement explained that turning or making a U-turn at double white lines, which are clearly supported by prohibition signs, is an offence.
“Such actions can pose dangers and disrupt traffic flow.
“As well as endangering other road users,” it added.

The statement said that the failure of some drivers to comply with traffic rules has the potential to cause accidents.
“The police advise all road users to always obey the laws and traffic signs for everyone’s safety.
“Careless and non-compliant behaviour can lead to accidents and endanger lives,” it said.
