BAGAN SERAI: The durian season has returned to Bagan Serai, and for fans of the king of fruits, it’s well worth being here.

One of the choices available is enjoying premium durians in Kampung Parit Haji Ismail 3, sold by a husband-and-wife pair right in the yard of their home.

Even more interesting, visitors can eat as much of the king of fruits as they like while enjoying a panoramic view of vast paddy fields.

As is well known, Bagan Serai is one of the rice bowl areas of the state of Perak.

Among the premium durian varieties sold are Musang King, Black Thorn, and several others at very low prices, which has attracted widespread attention.

Black Thorn and Musang King are priced as low as RM30 per kilogram, and customers can even get a replacement fruit if the flesh is not good.

In line with current trends, the sale of these durians is promoted through social media such as live video broadcasts and TikTok, giving viewers up-to-date visuals.

The seller, Rafael Ismail, 38, said he opened a stall in the yard of his own home and sells at low prices so that more people can enjoy premium durians.

He also guarantees the quality of the fruits, including replacements if they are not good or lack flavor.

“At the same time, this helps promote the village, Kampung Parit Haji Ismail 3, to outsiders, especially durian enthusiasts.

“Visitors don’t just come to eat the fruit—they also get to enjoy the scenery and the traditional Malay village atmosphere, especially those who live in the city,” he said.

Besides premium durians, they also sell durian kampung, durian kahwin kampung, and IOI varieties at prices as low as RM5 per kilogram.
