IPOH: A large, old tree that often obstructs traffic along Jalan Bunga Raya, New Pasir Puteh (near Laluan Bunga Saroja) continues to trouble residents in the area.
Not only does it affect the surrounding community, but it also poses a risk to road users as its branches and limbs have extended across the road.
According to one of the residents, many reports have been lodged over the last few years, including calls made to the authorities responsible for the area, but no action has been taken.
“The branches have fallen many times during heavy rain or strong winds. Including right into our front yard. Recently, a vehicle even hit the tree and caused a long branch to collapse and obstruct the driveway.
“Complaints have long been submitted to the Ipoh City Council (MBI) and the relevant parties, but still no action has been taken.
“We are worried that this tree could fall on the electrical wires here at any time and the main road itself is also at risk,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
He urged the authorities, including the local council members, to be more attentive and take the matter seriously, as the complaint has reportedly been made multiple times.
“This area is often hit by strong winds and lightning. A lightning strike could hit the branches and cause something worse to happen,” he stressed.
