TANJUNG MALIM: The district has taken a step forward toward development as a smart district through newly introduced initiatives.
Most recently, the Tanjong Malim District Council (MDTM) signed a collaboration agreement for the implementation of the MyHackathon Pilot Project – MDTM ServeIT Smart City System.

This pilot project aims to digitize MDTM’s public service delivery, particularly in the areas of solid waste management and street lighting services.
MYHackathon is a national program under the MYStartup initiative through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and is implemented by Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd.
It represents a federal government effort to accelerate the digitalization of service delivery to the public.
Through this program, MDTM collaborated with ServeIT, an innovative MyHackathon winner, to develop problem-solving solutions.

This collaboration enables MDTM to receive a conditional grant worth RM250,000 to develop the pilot project.
The pilot project developed is a Smart City Dashboard System with a Street Lighting Management System module and Solid Waste Collection Truck Monitoring.
Key aspects covered include street light monitoring projects, lamp post structure and operations, monitoring of carbon emission levels, and monitoring the effectiveness of electricity usage.
Meanwhile, in a statement, MDTM Secretary Roslan Kamaruzaman, representing the President of MDTM, described the pilot project as being highly aligned with MDTM’s planning to position Muallim as a Smart City.
“This recognition is in line with the state of Perak’s target to become a Smart City by 2027 and MDTM’s own target to achieve ‘Early Adopter Smart City’ recognition in 2026,” he said.
Earlier, the launch ceremony of the pilot project was officiated by the Minister of MOSTI, Chang Lih Kang, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tanjung Malim.
