TANJUNG MALIM: The increasingly rampant crime of cable theft at various locations across the state of Perak has raised public concern.
However, the police have not remained idle, as they continuously carry out crime prevention operations to track down those responsible.

Their efforts paid off when police successfully foiled an attempted cable theft during a patrol along Jalan Trolak Slim here and detained a Myanmar national.
The arrest was made after officers detected a suspicious vehicle, a Honda Stepwagon Spada, parked by the roadside near a construction site.
In a statement, the Muallim District Police Headquarters (IPD Muallim) said the man was arrested last Sunday at about 4.30 a.m.

Preliminary investigations found that the suspect, together with two other individuals, was loading items into the vehicle before fleeing upon realizing the presence of the police.
“An inspection of the vehicle uncovered eight sacks containing electrical cable wires believed to be stolen.
“All seized items, along with the vehicle, have been confiscated for further investigation,” the statement said.
The suspect was subsequently taken to IPD Muallim for further action.
IPD Muallim also called for public cooperation, urging anyone who notices suspicious individuals or vehicles to contact IPD Muallim at 05-452 8222.
