TAIPING: More than just a zoo visit, the students gained first-hand exposure to the animals and their environment.

This included participating in a community service programme to clean the zoo surroundings and public areas frequented by visitors.

The unique experience was enjoyed by 83 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) at Taiping Zoo & Night Safari.

They took part in the Taiping Zoo & Night Safari Education Package (Package E – Special Community Service).

The programme enhanced participants’ knowledge and awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability, while also allowing them to learn about animal behaviour through both theoretical and practical approaches.

In addition, the special community service programme successfully fostered a sense of social responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills among the students.

This initiative aligns with the concept of experiential learning.

Meanwhile, parties—especially institutions—who wish to make enquiries about educational packages at Taiping Zoo may contact 05-808 6577 / 05-804 1045 or email zootaiping@zootaiping.gov.my.
