Giant, a supermarket brand long familiar to Ipoh residents, has returned to the city with the opening of a new outlet in Bandar Baru Tambun, bringing everyday grocery shopping closer to home for nearby neighbourhoods.
The newly opened Giant Bandar Baru Tambun is set within a residential area, offering greater convenience for families living in and around Tambun. Designed as a neighbourhood-focused supermarket, the outlet aims to meet daily shopping needs without the need for longer trips to larger retail centres.
Operated by GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the opening strengthens Giant’s presence in Perak and continues the group’s long-standing role in community-based grocery retailing. Deputy Chief Executive Officer Linda Phang said the Tambun outlet aligns with the group’s nationwide approach to placing the Giant brand within residential communities, while staying closely connected to the people it serves.
Shoppers can expect a wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, seafood, chilled items and everyday household essentials, catering to regular grocery needs. The store features a refreshed look and layout, designed to create a more comfortable and accessible shopping experience for residents of all ages.
Adding to the convenience, Uncle Jack Fried Chicken, located next door and operated by the same retail group, offers a ready-to-eat option for shoppers looking to pick up a meal alongside their groceries. Together, the outlets provide a practical stop for both household shopping and takeaway food within the neighbourhood.
The opening of Giant Bandar Baru Tambun also sits within GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd’s ongoing presence in Ipoh and Perak. Just last week, the group also opened Cold Storage at Sentra Mall Ipoh, further expanding its presence in the city.
